Wiosenna niestandardowa strona logowania JSF, zawsze „Złe poświadczenia”

Próbuję uzyskać stronę logowania JSF do pracy z zabezpieczeniami Spring. Szukałem wielu przykładów, ale żaden nie działa. Za każdym razem, gdy próbuję się zalogować przy użyciu strony JSF, w dzienniku serwera pojawia się ostrzeżenie „Złe poświadczenia”.

Gdy używam strony innej niż JSF jako Login.xhtml, działa ona bez zarzutu.

Strona, która działa:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"

    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
<h:head></h:head>
<body>
    <form action="j_spring_security_check" method="post">
        <table>
            <tr>
                <td>User:</td>
                <td><input type="text" name="j_username" /></td>
            </tr>
            <tr>
                <td>Password:</td>
                <td><input type="password" name="j_password" /></td>
