Logika za paginacją, jak Google

Jaka jest logika zachowania stronicowania w Google?

Mój paginator wygląda mniej więcej tak:

Wiem, dlaczego tak się dzieje; Ustawiłem ilość numerów stron, które mają być wyświetlane po każdej stronie bieżącej strony, na dwie (2).

Wolałbym, aby zakres liczb był taki sam:

Na początku i na końcu muszę dokonać pewnych zmian, ale nie wiem, jak to zrobić, aby była łatwa w obsłudze ...
Chciałbym również, aby był elastyczny. Oznacza to, że chciałbym móc zmienić liczbę stron pożądanych po każdej stronie, a skrypt powinien się rozwinąć i obliczyć wszystko ...
