Obter um resultado de função de forma assíncrona no Delphi usando o Omni Thread Library
Estou tentando chamar uma função de outra unidade / classe que levaria algum tempo para executar a tarefa e retornaria um valor de seqüência de caracteres. Não consegui encontrar uma boa referência algo semelhante ao C # async-wait como abordagem simples no Delphi. Usar a biblioteca Omni Thread parece uma boa ideia para mim.
Um exemplo simples será um ótimo começo para mim.
Exemplo de abordagem:
procedure TForm1.button1Click(Sender: TObject);
begin
// notify before starting the task
memo1.Lines.Add('calling a asynchronous function..');
// call to the function that takes some time and returns a string value
memo1.Lines.Add(GetMagicString);
// notify that the task has been completed
memo1.Lines.Add('Results fetched successfully.');
end;
Aqui, a funçãoGetMagicString deve processar o resultado de forma assíncrona. Uma vez obtido o resultado, somente o programa deverá notificar que a tarefa foi concluída. A propósito, eu estou usando Delphi-XE.
Edit1: Aqui está o que eu tentei. Mas ainda sou incapaz de descobrir a maneira correta de fazer o trabalho. O problema é como retornar o valor.
.....
private
ResultValue: IOmniFuture<string>;
.........
.....
function TForm1.FutureGet: string;
begin
Sleep(3000);
Result := 'my sample magic string response ' + IntToStr(Random(9999));
end;
procedure TForm1.FutureGetTerminated;
begin
// This code fired when the task is completed
memo1.Lines.Add(ResultValue.Value);
end;
function TForm1.GetMagicString: string;
begin
ResultValue := Parallel.Future<string>(FutureGet,
Parallel.TaskConfig.OnTerminated(FutureGetTerminated));
end;
Aqui, usando Result: = ResultValue.Value cobra a interface do usuário.

Fiz alterações conforme a resposta fornecida.
Código MainForm: unit Unit1;
interface
uses

Dialogs, StdCtrls, Unit2;

TForm1 = class(TForm)

property OnStringReceived: TMyEvent read FOnStringReceived write FOnStringReceived;
end;

implementation
{$R *.dfm}
procedure TForm1.button1Click(Sender: TObject);

// call to the function that takes some time and returns a string value

end.
Outro código da unidade: unit Unit2;

type
TMyEvent = procedure(const aValue: string) of object;
type
TMyClass = class
private

public
procedure GetMagicStringInBackground(AEvent: TMyEvent);
end;
implementation

function TMyClass.GetMagicString: string;
begin
Sleep(3000);
Result := 'my sample magic string response ' + IntToStr(Random(9999));
end;
procedure TMyClass.GetMagicStringInBackground(AEvent: TMyEvent);
var
theFunctionResult: string;
begin
Parallel.Async(
procedure
begin
theFunctionResult := GetMagicString;
end,
Parallel.TaskConfig.OnTerminated(
procedure (const task: IOmniTaskControl)

end;
end.
Sim, o código funciona conforme o esperado. Eu só quero saber se essa é a melhor maneira de fazer o que realmente quero fazer.
