¿Cuál es la diferencia entre las siguientes formas de adjuntar un controlador de eventos en JQuery?

He encontrado algunos casos en los que uno parece funcionar y el otro no. Por ejemploHandler 2 a continuación, n trabajar mientrasHandler 1 hace. Para que esto funcione, tuve que implementarHandler 3 que obviamente es menos eficiente.
