jogo de memória gráficos java

Estou codificando um programa que é um jogo de memória 4x4. Dentro destas 16 caixas haverá um par de números inteiros de 0 a 7. Eu tenho tudo isso já randomizado e codificado corretamente. Agora eu estou tentando descobrir como emparelhar as cores com os inteiros correspondentes cada vez que o mouse clica sobre a caixa.

Aqui a maior parte do código. Eu sei que a lógica para este jogo ainda não começou, mas estou mais focado no método displayHit e no método setColor agora. Apenas postando o código inteiro porque talvez eu tenha bagunçado em outro lugar.
