¿Cómo oculto / muestro un <panel> usando jquery?

Estoy tratando de mostrar un panel (que contiene dos etiquetas y está oculto cuando se carga la página) al hacer clic en un botón, pero no obtengo éxito.

Cuando hago clic en un botón (id = Button1), debería mostrar un panel (id = anspanel) pero no sucede así. En lugar de eso, permanece como está, es decir, no sucede nada al hacer clic en un botón. No puedo averiguar por qué. Echa un vistazo a mi código. Muéstrame dónde estoy cometiendo un error y cuál es la solución.
