O Python ElementTree não converte espaços sem quebra ao usar UTF-8 para saída
Estou tentando analisar, manipular e gerar HTML usando o ElementTree do Python:
import sys
from cStringIO import StringIO
from xml.etree import ElementTree as ET
from htmlentitydefs import entitydefs
source = StringIO("""<html>
<body>
<p>Less than <</p>
<p>Non-breaking space </p>
</body>
</html>""")
parser = ET.XMLParser()
parser.parser.UseForeignDTD(True)
parser.entity.update(entitydefs)
etree = ET.ElementTree()
tree = etree.parse(source, parser=parser)
for p in tree.findall('.//p'):
print ET.tostring(p, encoding='UTF-8')
Quando executo isso usando o Python 2.7 no Mac OS X 10.6, recebo:
<p>Less than <</p>
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "bar.py", line 20, in <module>
print ET.tostring(p, encoding='utf-8')

return text.encode(encoding, "xmlcharrefreplace")

Eu pensei que especificando "codificação = 'UTF-8'" iria cuidar do caractere de espaço não-quebra, mas aparentemente isso não acontece. O que devo fazer em vez disso?
