Precisa escrever no início do arquivo com PHP

Eu estou fazendo este programa e estou tentando descobrir como gravar dados para o início de um arquivo, em vez do final. "a" / append apenas escreve para o final, como posso fazer com que ele escreva para o começo? Porque "r +" faz isso, mas sobrescreve os dados anteriores.
