Instalando o jQuery no Rails 3.2.13

Estou tendo problemas para fazer o jQuery funcionar no Ruby on Rails 3.2.13. Eu olhei para tutoriais, procurei no youtube, etc e ainda não consigo fazê-lo funcionar.

Mais especificamente, estou tendo problemas para usar o jQuery ui. Não consigo fazer com que o widget do acordeão funcione. Eu não posso nem obter jQuery simples (como exibir uma mensagem de alerta de hello) para trabalhar no ROR.
