Tengo una serie de cadenas en un archivo del formato:

Estoy tratando de encontrar un patrón de expresiones regulares que elimine los nuevos caracteres de línea debajo de> personaje entre el siguiente> personaje. Entonces el resultado final se vería así:
>HEADER_Text1
Information here, yada yada yada Some more information here, yada yada yada Even some more information here, yada yada yada
>HEADER_Text2
Information here, yada yada yada Some more information here, yada yada yada Even some more information here, yada yada yada

¿Alguien sabe cómo puedo crear un patrón de expresiones regulares para hacer esto?
Nota al margen: este formato es común en la ciencia computacional como un formato FASTA.
