De alguma forma, essa pergunta já foi feita ... então aceite minhas desculpas ...

Estou tentando instalar a versão mais recente do matplotlib a partir daqui:http://pypi.python.org/pypi/matplotlib/1.0.1

Eu sei que posso baixar o arquivo, descompactar e compilá-lo, mas eu deveria instalá-lo em muitas máquinas e o pip deve ser uma felicidade.

Então, eu fiz o easy_install pip, e aqui a saída que estou obtendo com as duas ferramentas:

$ sudo easy_install "matplotlib==1.0.1"

install_dir /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/
