Recriar layout de força recolhível usando d3 v4

Eu tenho tentado criar um layout de força recolhível usando d3js v4, semelhante a este:https://mbostock.github.io/d3/talk/20111116/force-collapsible.html

Consegui criar o próprio layout. Mas não é possível atualizá-lo. Alguém pode ajudar?
