Existe uma maneira melhor de salvar uma classe personalizada para NSUserDefaults do que codificar e decodificar tudo com o NSCoder?

Minha classe atual tem cerca de 50 linhas apenas codificando e decodificando variáveis para que minha classe seja compatível com NSUserDefaults. Existe uma maneira melhor de lidar com isso?
