Estou tentando rastrear por que uma string é armazenada por tanto tempo no meu aplicativo e consumindo uma quantidade excessiva de memória. Eu tenho um serviço do Windows que é executado regularmente.

Ele lê dados de um banco de dados (na forma de um DataSet) e, em seguida, realiza algum processamento - tudo .NET gerenciado.

O Serviço do Windows é acionado uma vez a cada 5 minutos, o que faz alguma referência cruzada. Cada linha do DataSet não deve demorar muito mais que um segundo - na pior das hipóteses!

Em um estágio, os bytes privados> 1,2 GB, mesmo que não houvesse dados disponíveis para processar. Não há variáveis globais e todo o processamento é feito dentro de métodos individuais.

Tirei uma foto e processei com o WinDbg. Aqui estão os resultados:
