Android: Não é possível consultar o ContactsContract.Directory no HTC

Eu escrevi um exemplo de aplicativo que retorna dados de contatos da GAL (diretório da empresa, definido como Exchange ActiveSync em "Contas"). O mesmo aplicativo funciona perfeitamente em vários dispositivos diferentes, mas não no HTC que eu testei com (One X + com Android 4.1.1 e One VX com 4.0.4).
Basicamente, a consulta para ContactsContract.Directory.CONTENT_URI retorna apenas diretórios com IDs de Directory.DEFAULT e Directory.LOCAL_INVISIBLE. Em outros dispositivos, isso adiciona, por exemplo, id = 5 ao tipo com.android.exchange. A pesquisa do aplicativo "People" nativo também funciona em HTCs.

Além disso, háeste aplicativo, "contatos verdadeiros", esse é basicamente o aplicativo de contatos ICS mais recente compilado. Ele pesquisa a GAL perfeitamente no Samsung Galaxy S3, por exemplo, mas não no HTC. Alguém pode lançar alguma luz sobre o assunto, por favor?
