Estou tentando verificar a disponibilidade deGoogle Play Services APK antes de usá-lo. Eu tenho um dispositivo onde o pacote está desatualizado (o log lê "... Google Play Services desatualizados. Requer 3225100 mas encontrou 3136134").
O código abaixo deve lidar com essa situação e mostrar uma caixa de diálogo solicitando que o usuário faça a atualização. Por um motivo desconhecido para mim a linha

GooglePlayServicesUtil.getErrorDialog(resultCode, this,
                    PLAY_SERVICES_RESOLUTION_REQUEST).show();

retorna imediatamente mostrando nenhum diálogo (e não bloqueando o thread da interface do usuário em um evento da interface do usuário).
Você poderia, por favor, lançar uma luz sobre o que é possível e como corrigir o código para que o diálogo seja exibido?
