Quiero iniciar un servicio desde dentro del widget, sé que puedo hacerlo usando PendingIntent como

PendingIntent intent = PendingIntent.getService(context, 0, new Intent(context, MyService.class), Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.buttonWidgetStartService, intent);

pero el problema es que ya he usado PendingIntent en ese botón para algún otro propósito. Por lo tanto, he intentado iniciar el servicio utilizando

context.startService(new Intent(context, MyService.class));

y aquí estoy recibiendoNullPointerException.

Nota: Si elimino las líneas que contienenstartService ystopService, todo está funcionando sin problemas.
