Estoy intentando registrar de forma asíncrona cierta información en SQL Server dentro de una acción del controlador MVC 4 que apunta a .NET 4.0 utilizando el paquete AsyncTargeting. Saltaría directamente a .NET 4.5 pero mi aplicación vive en Azure yseguimos esperando la actualización...

Este código funciona como se esperaba (se escribe una fila en mi base de datos sin excepciones):

No tengo visibilidad de la excepción ya que es todo el código externo. No entiendo por qué falla el segundo bloque de código. Este es el código que escribí originalmente.

¿Qué estoy haciendo mal?
