Como usar o JFileChooser para exibir imagem em um JFrame ou JPanel

Eu criei um programa que pode alterar o formato de uma imagem. Tudo está funcionando, mas quando abro uma imagem através do JFileChooser, estou recebendojava.lang.ClassCastException. Por favor, alguém pode me ajudar. Acho que estou cometendo um erro ao usar o seletor de arquivos. Eu sou iniciante, por favor, alguém pode me ajudar o mais rápido possível?
