Hibernar> CLOB> Oracle :(

Eu estou tentando gravar em um campo de clob do Oracle um valor acima de 4000 caracteres. Isso parece ser um problema comum, mas as soluções parecem não funcionar. Então eu rezo por ajuda daqui.

Informação descendente e suja:
Usando o Oracle 9.2.0.8.0
Hibernate3 implementando o pojo com anotações
Tomcat 6.0.16
Drivers para Oracle 10.2.x

No meu persistence.xml eu tenho:
