XDocument Obtener parte del archivo XML

Tengo un archivo xml grande y quiero obtener un número definido de<Cooperation> nodos de ella. ¿Cuál es la mejor manera de manejar esto?

Actualmente estoy usando este código.

public string FullCooperationListChunkGet(int part, int chunksize)
{
    StringBuilder output_xml = new StringBuilder();
    IEnumerable<XElement> childList = from el in xml.Elements("Cooperations").Skip(part * chunksize).Take(chunksize) select el;

    foreach (XElement x in childList.Elements())
    {
        output_xml.Append(x.ToString());
    }

    return output_xml.ToString();
}

Skip(part * chunksize).Take(chunksize) no funciona (parece ser solo válido para la Etiqueta de cooperación y no para la Etiqueta de cooperación)

¿Puede alguien apuntarme en la dirección correcta?

El fondo es el siguiente: estoy enviando estas partes xml a través de un servicio web a un Blackberry. Desafortunadamente, el tamaño de solicitud http en un servidor de empresa BlackBerry está limitado a 256 kb de forma predeterminada.
